Richard kicked off his career at Browns and then worked with iconic names such as Lynne Franks, The British Fashion Council, ASOS and YSL Rive Gauche.

He set up the Press Office at French Connection and went on to establish his own agency adding some of the UKs leading high street brands such as Oasis, Warehouse, Tesco and Debenhams to his client list.  International clients included designer brands such as Anna Molinari, Fendi, Byblos and special projects for Giorgio Armani and Versace.

Richard diversified into the luxury sectors specialising in beauty, health, fragrance and well-being and was the UK PR for Bikram Yoga for 8 years and iconic niche fragrance, Escentric Molecules. 


He excelled with his broad range of top tier contacts to connect brands with their target markets, brand building, feature placement and senior level PR strategy.

Some highlights from Richard's career:

Established first in house press office for French Connection, increasing national and international media awareness

  • Launching Gianni Versace flagship boutique in the UK resulting in record UK sales across the label

  • Implementing Giorgio Armani 25 year anniversary celebrations with national media reach of 30 million

  • Repositioning Debenhams Group from discount status to design led department store. Complete brand redevelopment of Debenhams resulting in national and regional press coverage and significant increase in share price

  • - rebranded online site, created editorial aspect and launched Asos magazine, sales up over 100%

  • London Fashion Week strategic repositioning of LFW as a major event on the fashion calendar

  • Founder of Brooks PR, a successful established fashion, beauty and lifestyle agency employing 12 practitioners and running over business in excess of £2M

  • Implemented the PR activity and strategic direction for the launch of the Corinthia Hotel in London

  • Developed international strategy and launch for leading, niche fragrance Escentric Molecules and implementing media outreach for The Beautiful Mind Series

Richard had a daughter and 2 sons.  He was an accomplished sportsman, especially loved football and golf, completed 3 London marathons and a triathlon.  He was an avid reader, superb writer and knew how to work a room! 


Every day 27 people of all ages across the UK, hear the news that they have leukaemia.


Richard was one of them.


Leukaemia doesn’t discriminate, it affects people of all ages and despite decades of progress only half of leukaemia patients live longer
than five years after their diagnosis.

Richard Brooks was not only a superb PR practitioner, with an incredible legacy of high level professionalism and excellent results.  He was also a lovely person and colleague who was a delight to work with.  His early passing was one of the industry’s tragedies and I fully support  Laura and his family in their work fundraising for Leukaemia UK.

As the PR arm of the Sales and Marketing team, Richard (Brooks PR) was both a friend and a colleague. His approach to work was professional and fun, but most of all results driven and focussed. Richard was a natural people person who commanded both your attention and respect. He did some great work and played a key part in helping to elevate the business in the early stages of its development and growth. He will not be forgotten.
